According to an official press release, “the bar menu is modeled right after a classic European-type foyer bar.” Not quite New York, right after all.

The news about the novel lounge place follows the re-opening of El Quijote, the restaurant that at first opened in the resort in 1930 but closed in late March 2018 for renovations.

Crafted in the mid-1880s at 222 West 23rd Avenue, concerning Seventh and Eighth Avenues, Resort Chelsea was specified a New York Metropolis landmark in 1966 and has been on the Countrywide Sign-up of Historic Areas given that 1997—and for great reason: throughout its existence, the lodge has become a refuge and safe room for artists of all kinds, inspiring guides, tracks and a slew of other lifestyle-adjacent assignments by its long-expression inhabitants and wannabe New Yorkers.

Arthur Miller wrote The Chelsea Have an effect on as an ode to lifetime on premise in the early 1960s, for instance. Arthur C. Clarke, on the other hand, reportedly labored on 2001: A Space Odyssey although keeping at the hotel. Which is all to say: Resort Chelsea is aspect and parcel of what makes New York exclusive so we are glad to see it back up and running—albeit a bit a lot more modernly than we’re made use of to.
