Hello and welcome to our traffic live blog on Sunday, April 17, as the busy Easter period continues. This page will keep you up to date on everything that happens across Nottinghamshire roads throughout the long weekend as millions make holiday journeys.

Transport Secretary Grant Shapps has previously warned that travel networks will be “extremely busy” during the bank holiday weekend. And drivers are being warned to expect long queues on the UK’s major roads.

Millions of drivers are expected on the roads over the Easter period in what is predicted to be the busiest travel day of the Easter weekend. An estimated 22.48 million journeys are expected to be made across the bank holiday weekend in what could be the busiest in years, according to the RAC.

Rail passengers have also been warned of further delays as Network Rail carries out 530 engineering projects costing a total of £83 million over the weekend. On top of all the travel disruption, supplies of petrol and diesel at filling stations in some areas of the country have been at around half their usual level as the UK’s travel network comes under pressure.
