Built at the plaza at Mattioli Woods Welford Road, the hotel has been under construction since March 2020, with original planning beginning back in 2017.
Harrington was previously hotel manager with Viking Cruises and Carnival Cruise Line as well as deputy general manager at Crewe Hall. He has an “extensive food and beverage pedigree delivering large scale high impact service delivery to an expectant audience”.
Hotel Brooklyn boasts 191 suites and bedrooms, including a number of Liberty suites and the 120 cover restaurant, The Lair.
The hotel also features a Grandstand at the hub of the hotel, where guests can order cocktails, beers, and wine. The space also offers the ability to view movies, and listen to music.
Harrington said: “I’m relishing the opportunity to set Hotel Brooklyn Leicester to sail, it’s exciting and a really ambitious project. It pulls all of my skills together allowing my ambition to help deliver a new and unique hotel product to the UK audience. I can’t wait to get started.”
Paul Baylisss MBE, regional general manager of the Hotel Brooklyn Brand, Bespoke Hotels, said: “The opening of Hotel Brooklyn, Leicester is probably more exciting than opening our first hotel in Manchester. ‘The hotel has all of what the Brooklyn brand stands for.”
Leicester is the location for the latest Hotel in the Brooklyn family, after Manchester, which opened in 2020.
The Leicester Tigers announced its official partnership with Bespoke Hotels at the beginning of June.
