The Central Texas Travel Club not too long ago took a working day excursion to tour the oldest standing mansion in Texas, located northwest of Mason. The journey included a personal tour with behind-the-scenes historic accounts from individuals who have supported and worked on the renovation of the mansion.  

The club’s future excursions include Yellowstone, Switzerland, Eire/Scotland, Nashville, and day tours to Waco, Dublin, Texas State Railroad, and San Antonio for the Texas Tribute Live performance with narration by the Texas Region Reporter and his wife.  

Temple creator Carol O’Keefe Wilson will evaluation her hottest e book, “The Background and Mystery of the Keystone Star Lodge,” for the Guides for Lunch group meeting at noon on Wednesday in the board home on the 3rd floor of the Temple General public Library, 100 W. Adams Ave. in downtown Temple.

The e book is an interesting account of John and Harriet Gracy’s building of the Star Resort in Lampasas in the 1850s. This business enterprise was in existence for over 50 yrs. During this span of time, the Gracys dropped a son to an Indian raid, raised a huge loved ones and lived by means of the perils of the Civil War though operating a demanding and productive business enterprise. Just after their death the house improved fingers many situations and fell into disrepair. In 2017 an Austin businessman, Andrew Fish, noticed the outdated building on a push as a result of city, bought it and has restored it and several adjoining qualities.

Wilson has composed a few other publications about Central Texas history. Her very first guide dealt with Ma and Pa Ferguson as governors of Texas. She then wrote a heritage of the Stagecoach Inn in Salado and afterwards a guide similar to the destruction of the Cheeves Brothers Section Store in McKinney. As time enables, she will focus on these publications on Wednesday.

American Needlepoint Guild

The Wildflower Chapter of the American Needlepoint Guild will maintain a needlework stash sale from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday at Holy Trinity Significant Faculty, 6608 West Adams Ave. in Temple

Goods for sale will contain needlepoint initiatives, crafts, beading, cross stitch kits, needlework textbooks and designs, ribbons, containers and organizers.

Proceeds from the function will help help community nonprofit teams, like the Ronald McDonald House.

Bell Extension Education Affiliation

The Bell Extension Training Affiliation will meet at 10 a.m. Monday in the Bell County Extension AgriLife Assembly Space, 1605 North Primary St. in Belton.

Temple Breakfast Lions Club
