Buttigieg says feds have power to force airlines to hire more workers amid travel delays

The federal federal government could consider action from U.S. airlines on behalf of prospects, Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg explained Saturday.

He also encouraged the executives to stress-exam their journey abilities to avoid a different repeat of Memorial Day, which was riddled with flight disruptions. The executives agreed and said they would be using steps to improve their support.

“Now we are likely to see how those techniques measure up,” Buttigieg said Saturday.

Buttigieg’s office also oversees the Federal Aviation Administration, which has also confronted staffing shortages. The FAA explained it would seek the services of more team to boost its buyer service.
